The annual Atlantic Beach
Independence Day Celebration, complete with a live band and fireworks,
returns in 2009! We hope to see more citizens and visitors come to enjoy a
day full of sun, fun, fireworks, great music, and dancing on Saturday, July
4, 2009!
The featured band will be
Sammy O'Banion and the Mardi Gras Band, playing from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM,
with a break at 9:00 PM for a beautiful fireworks display.
Please bring your beach chairs and blankets and enjoy the show!
Please click here to see a map of the "Circle"
area, band staging location, and accessible parking spaces/lots.
Please keep the following tips in mind to help us
insure the safest, easiest, most pleasant viewing experience for everyone:
Please bring a blanket, towel, or lawn chair.
No alcoholic beverages of any type are permitted in the main event location
or parking areas. Malt beverages in cups or cans are permitted on the beach.
As this is a family event, drinking around children is discouraged.
Portable toilets will be available.
Parking will be available as follows (except where designated by signage as
"no parkingĻ):
o Around "Circle" along East Drive, West Drive, and Atlantic Blvd
o Two parking lots north (dirt lot) and south (old pavilion paved
lot) off of Atlantic Blvd.
o Two parking lots available on East Bogue Blvd. One is the
dirt/gravel lot behind Memories club (on left side of East Bogue). One is
the grassy lot on 100 block of East Bogue (on right side of East Bogue)
Please park safely, and respect nearby private property! Please do not park
in front of private driveways or fire hydrants.
Be careful walking to and from the public viewing area! Please bring a
flashlight to help guide your party in the dark!
We expect a big crowd, so carpooling is encouraged!
This event is not the place for your pets.
We also encourage anyone who can walk or bicycle to the show to please do
so!
The fireworks can also be viewed from nearby oceanfront locations and nearby
neighborhoods. We expect the fireworks to be visible from the beach strand
within a couple mile radius of the site.
Vehicle traffic is expected to be heavy before and after the fireworks show.
PLEASE BE PATIENT AND USE GOOD COMMON SENSE - YOUR SAFETY IS OUR UTMOST
CONCERN!
In the event of rain or high winds, the show will be cancelled and there is
no make-up date.
