Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award

Pete Allen received three special honors during the Monday, December 14, 2009 Carteret County Commissioners meeting. He was honored for being a dedicated Carteret County Commissioner; he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award by Governor Bev Perdue, presented by Representative Pat McElraft; and he then received a North Carolina flag which was flown over the State Capital on December 4, 2009 in his honor by Senator Jean Preston.

The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, created in 1965, is an honor that can be granted in North Carolina. The long leaf pine is the official state tree of North Carolina.

The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is presented to individuals who have a proven record of extraordinary service to the state. Contributions to their communities, extra effort in their careers, and many years of service to their organizations are some of the guidelines by which recipients are selected for this award.

Congratulations Mr. Allen, we are so proud to have been given the opportunity to work with you.
